The Ancient Roman stylus most resembles a nail except that it is thicker than standard nails and blunter on the edges. These styli was made out of metals such as bronze, silver, and gold.

The Ancient Romans used the stylus to write down information much like we do today with a piece of pen and paper. Ancient Romans recorded their everydathese tablets. If you visit some museums, you can clearly see the y activities and kept historical records on tablets and stylus that was used to record information. These tablets shine a light on what the Ancient Romans wrote about as well as what kind of events occurred during those times. It also reveals information about how Romans lived back then.

What's interesting is that some styluses had unique designs. Most of them were normal, looking like a worn out nail but some had intricate designs and were made out of more expensive material such as gold. These styluses had a tipped end to make it easier to grip and were designed like the back of an arrowhead.

It's interesting to see how information was recorded back in Ancient times. Because it wasn't easy to produce a new stylus like it is to produce a lot of paper, the wax on the tablet were warmed so that they could be reformed. The stylus would then be used again to record new information on to the tablet.
